Commitment to Excellence
Every student, parent and teacher signs the KSA Commitment to Excellence. It is not just a piece of paper; it is a promise we make to each other to work, think and behave in a way that helps all of us climb the mountain to college. The Commitment to Excellence form is the bedrock of our school community and our commitment to one another as team and family. It is our promise to each other and to the community at large that we will pursue excellence everyday!

Student's Commitment:
I fully commit to KIPP Summit Academy (KSA) in the following ways:
- I will arrive at KSA every day by 7:25 A.M. (Monday-Friday) and remain at KSA until 5:00 P.M. (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday) and 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
- I will come to KSA on appropriate Saturdays at 9:00 A.M. and remain until 12:15 P.M.
- I will attend KSA during summer session (3 weeks in August).
- I will always work, think, and behave in the best way I know how and do whatever it takes for my fellow students and me to learn.
- I will also raise my hand and ask questions in class if I do not understand something. I will complete all my homework every night, and I will call my teachers if I have a problem with the homework or a problem with coming to school.
- I will always make myself available to my parents and teachers about any concerns they might have. If I make a mistake, I will tell the truth to my teachers and accept responsibility for my actions.
- I will always behave so as to protect the safety, interests, and rights of all individuals in the classroom including listening to all my KIPP teammates and giving everyone the respect a teammate deserves.
- I will follow the KIPP dress code and wear my KSA uniform shirt and khaki pants everyday.
- I am responsible for my own behavior, for following the teachers' directions and for living by the values of KSA.
Parents'/Guardians' Commitment:
I fully commit to KIPP Summit Academy (KSA) in the following ways:
- I make sure my child arrives at KIPP every day by 7:25 A.M. (Monday-Friday) and make the necessary arrangements so my child can remain at KIPP until 5:00 P.M. (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday) and 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
- I will make arrangements for my child to attend KSA from 9:00 A.M. until 12:15 P.M. on appropriate Saturdays.
- I understand that attendance of KSA summer session (3 weeks in August) is mandatory. I will ensure that he/she is there everyday.
- I will always help my child in the best way I know how and I will do whatever it takes for him/her to learn by checking his/her homework every night, letting him/her call the teacher if there is a problem with the homework, and trying to read with him/her every night.
- I will always make myself available to my children, the school, and any concerns they might have. If my child is going to miss school, I will notify the teacher or office as soon as possible, and I will read carefully all the papers that the school sends home to parents/guardians.
- I will allow my child to go on KSA field trips.
- I will make sure my child follows the KSA dress code.
- I understand that my child must follow the KIPP rules so as to protect the safety, interests, and rights of all individuals in the classroom. I, not the school, am responsible for the behavior and actions of my child.
